About the Role
The QA Automation Engineer enhances and maintains automated test coverage for the Flex EHS and compliance platform. Working within an embedded quality engineering model, this role partners directly with product Scrum teams to influence software quality throughout the development and release lifecycle. The position focuses on automated API and end-to-end testing, performance and load testing, and integrating quality practices into continuous integration and deployment workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated API and end-to-end tests using Playwright and TypeScript, with an emphasis on execution speed and diagnostic value.
- Apply risk-based testing principles to prioritize automation efforts and communicate coverage decisions.
- Integrate automated tests into GitHub Actions pipelines and maintain quality gates for environment promotion.
- Monitor and troubleshoot test failures and flakiness by identifying and addressing root causes.
- Perform database validation using SQL, including validation associated with the migration from MongoDB to PostgreSQL.
- Manage performance and load testing, establish baselines, and identify and report performance regressions.
- Maintain test cases, execution results, and requirement traceability in Xray.
- Document defects with clear reproduction steps, severity levels, and supporting evidence.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies and identify testability, coverage, and quality concerns early in the development process.
- Collaborate with developers on test code reviews and quality improvement practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in the automation framework, test data strategy, and quality reporting.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional QA experience with ownership of test automation.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright or extensive experience with Cypress or Selenium, along with an understanding of Playwright.
- Strong API testing experience, including REST endpoints, authentication, payload and schema validation, and negative and edge-case testing.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, including headless execution and parallel test runs.
- Strong experience with test case management tools such as Xray or Azure DevOps.
- Strong defect documentation and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in SQL for data validation and issue investigation.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Pay
- Annual base salary range of $100,000–$110,000.
- Annual bonus opportunity of 10%.
