Associate Field Technician / Field Technician / Sr.Field Technician
About the role
This position is responsible for carrying out daily operations and maintenance tasks associated with pipeline activities and assisting with operations and maintenance of BLM’s facilities located in or around the Channelview, TX area of responsibility. The position will be responsible for environmental health and safety for ethylene, ethane, ammonia, and Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) through the pipeline system, pump stations, and associated facilities in the assigned operating area, and provide assistance to adjacent areas when needed.
Responsibilities
- Corrosion control
- Valve inspection and maintenance
- Damage prevention via One Call
- Pipeline patrolling
- Preventive pipeline maintenance
- Operations related to meter stations, valve sites, pump stations, and right-of-way maintenance activities
- Assist and support construction and repairs of pipelines and associated facilities
- Recognizing and reporting abnormal and safety-related operating conditions, accident, and near-miss reporting
- Emergency response
- Regulatory compliance, operations, maintenance, and repair procedures associated with DOT 195, DOT 192, industry standards, manufacturer guidelines, and company guidelines regarding facility equipment and appurtenances
- Responding to call-outs and being part of the on-call rotation for pipeline operations and emergency or abnormal situations
Requirements
- Physical requirements: standing/walking; climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; bending/stooping/squatting; carrying and lifting items 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet
- Working conditions: exposure to extreme heat/cold temperatures and enclosed spaces
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent verbal communications skills
- Problem-solving skills and ability to manage filing system
- History of safe work
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Drivers License with clean record
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude
- Current Drivers License with clean record
Skills
- Experience working with natural gas pipelines and compressor facilities
- Familiarity with DOT 192 / 195 Regulations
- Associates/Technical Degree in Mechanical or Electrical field
