Associate Director of Housing
About the role
The Associate Director coordinates and oversees regional residential operations for VOA Home programs across Kentucky. This role provides leadership to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed services for families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and support daily operations of residential programs across the region
- Supervise, train, and support staff in service delivery, compliance, and best practices
- Affirm compliance with funding, regulatory, and accreditation standards (including COA and PQI)
- Assist in strategic planning, policy development, and program improvement initiatives
- Develop and monitor program budgets and financial performance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, partners, and community stakeholders
- Support development of new programs and services
- Advocate for families and address systemic barriers impacting service delivery
- Ensure trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive care practices
- Conduct case reviews and ensure accurate reporting and documentation
- Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and performance management to staff
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Human Services or related field with 5+ years of residential experience
- OR Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience
- OR 13+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- At least 2 years of experience managing teams and/or projects
- Strong knowledge of homelessness, including its impact on individuals and families
- Experience with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention practices
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-site programs
- Strong skills in budgeting, program development, and team leadership
- Experience with grant writing, fundraising, or community engagement preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism
