About the Role
Under general supervision, this position provides assistance in the administration and supervision of activities within a group of services in the healthcare setting. Responsible for several departments, the role manages technical, managerial, ancillary, clerical, and support staff.
Responsibilities
- Directs and supervises staff and support departments, coordinating special services across related support and professional service departments.
- Prepares operating plans and drafts of plans, policies, programs, and procedures.
- Participates in the implementation of improved systems and procedures, monitors systems, and engages in control and audit programs.
- Prepares data for budget preparation, operating and statistical reports, analysis, and makes recommendations.
- Monitors requisitioning of supplies and equipment; requisitions materials and supplies for administrative, professional, and support service activities.
- Prepares studies on patient care standards, conducts analysis, and prepares recommendations.
- Attends staff meetings, conferences, and consults with Medical and Support Services departments.
- May represent healthcare setting administration in relevant functions and programs.
- Assists in grant proposal writing and in submitting revenue and expenditure reports for special funded programs.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Care Administration, Public Health, or a related discipline; and four (4) years of administrative experience at responsible management and administrative levels.
- OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline; and five (5) years of experience as described above.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively deal with clinicians, patients, administrators, auxiliary personnel, regulators, monitors, and sponsors.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (a plus).
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow independently.
- Ability to prioritize quickly and appropriately.
- Ability to multi-task with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience handling highly confidential information.
- Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Records.
- Knowledge of good clinical practice, FDA, OHRP, and HIPAA policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Access, Publisher, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of hospital organization fundamentals, administration, standards, regulations, and laws applicable to hospital operations.
- Understanding of principles of business and personnel administration and management.
