About the role

The Associate Director/Director, Patient Marketing is a core member of the Cebranopadol launch team, responsible for developing and executing the US patient/consumer marketing strategy, patient-focused launch plan, and omnichannel engagement campaigns and materials. This role shapes and implements a comprehensive consumer marketing strategy aligned with the overall brand strategy and coordinated with HCP marketing efforts to ensure consistent brand messaging and customer engagement.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Head of New Products Commercial, the incumbent raises brand awareness, develops targeted patient campaigns, fosters meaningful customer and influencer relationships, and ensures ethical and compliant product promotion. The role requires effective cross-functional collaboration with Regulatory, Medical, Access, Analytics, Policy, and other commercial teams.

This hands-on role contributes to both strategic planning and tactical execution, driving patient and caregiver engagement within the Pain Management therapeutic area and supporting the development and implementation of patient support programs.

Responsibilities

  • Leads patient marketing launch readiness and commercialization planning, ensuring all patient-facing strategies, programs, campaigns, materials, and channels are prepared to support a successful product launch and post-launch growth.
  • Leads development of patient insights through primary and secondary market research, patient journey mapping, market segmentation, and targeting to inform strategy, campaign optimization, and engagement plans from launch through +24 months.
  • Develops and executes patient-focused marketing strategies and integrated omnichannel campaigns to drive disease awareness, brand awareness, patient engagement, treatment adherence, and support, aligned with brand objectives and commercial goals.
  • Leads development, review, and execution of compliant patient/consumer promotional materials and experiences across digital and traditional channels, including websites, social media, CRM, email, video, paid media, and emerging platforms, in accordance with FDA regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborates closely with Market Access and other cross-functional stakeholders to develop, launch, and optimize patient support programs, HUB services, and patient access initiatives that enhance the patient experience and support treatment initiation, adherence, and persistence.
  • Establishes and manages relationships with patient advocacy organizations, patient communities, influencers, and other external stakeholders to strengthen disease education, patient support, and brand engagement initiatives.
  • Partners closely with HCP Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Analytics, Legal, Regulatory, and other cross-functional teams to ensure aligned brand strategy, messaging, and seamless customer experience across stakeholder audiences.
  • Monitors market dynamics, competitive activity, consumer behavior, and campaign performance; leverages analytics, KPIs, and customer insights to optimize marketing effectiveness and identify growth opportunities.
  • Leads agency partners and manages budgets, resources, and operational processes to ensure timely, high-quality execution of marketing initiatives and achievement of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology marketing experience, including at least 5 years of direct-to-consumer (DTC)/patient marketing experience in the US market.
  • Demonstrated experience leading patient marketing strategy, commercialization, and launch planning for prescription pharmaceutical products.
  • Proven track record of increasing strategic and operational responsibility within matrixed commercial organizations.
  • Strong experience developing and executing patient-centric marketing strategies across the patient journey, including disease awareness, patient engagement, treatment initiation, adherence, and support programs.
  • Proven success leading integrated omnichannel marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels from strategy through execution and optimization.
  • Experience leveraging primary and secondary market research, patient insights, segmentation, and analytics to inform commercial strategy and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated launch experience, including development and implementation of launch strategies, commercialization plans, and patient-facing initiatives for novel therapies in the US market.
  • Strong understanding of US pharmaceutical marketing, including FDA regulations, promotional compliance requirements, market access considerations, and the healthcare ecosystem.
  • Deep knowledge of Legal, Medical, and Regulatory (MLR) review processes and promotional material development.
  • Experience developing and managing relationships with agencies, vendors, advocacy organizations, and other external partners.
  • Experience with digital marketing platforms, CRM systems, customer engagement technologies, and marketing analytics tools.
  • Experience in Pain Management, Neuroscience/CNS, or related therapeutic areas is a plus.

Schedule

This is a hybrid role requiring local candidates to work the majority of the week in our Monmouth Junction, NJ office. Non-local candidates must be able to come into the office multiple times a month.

Pay

  • Director: $185,000 to $230,000/year
  • Associate Director: $175,000 to $205,000/year

Base salary and title offered are contingent on assessment of the candidate’s education and experience level relative to the requirements of the position and a review of related industry standards and internal equity.
