Associate, Digital Finance Transformation - Data Scientist - Private Equity Performance Improvement (OPEN TO ALL US LOCATIONS)
About the role
The Digital Finance Transformation team within Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to contribute to the acceleration of digital enablement within the finance function of private equity portfolio companies.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operationalize digital solutions that improve performance, transparency, and scalability for CFOs, Controllers, and FP&A leaders.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and translate them into actionable digital solutions.
- Develop lightweight finance applications using Streamlit or Retool to enhance data environments and automate processes.
- Work closely with technology teams to integrate and optimize data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Apply advanced Python programming skills, including machine learning libraries, to build analytics-driven tools.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to improve financial outcomes and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- 3-6 plus years of professional experience; consulting or professional services experience preferred.
- Advanced Python programming experience, including familiarity with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric).
- Experience with ETL/orchestration tools (Dagster, Temporal, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Fivetran, Matillion).
- Demonstrated ability to develop lightweight finance applications using Streamlit or Retool.
- Solid understanding of finance and accounting concepts, including forecasting, working capital management, and three-statement modeling.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; proven ability to translate between finance and technology teams.
- Ability to travel as required.

Pay
$90,000--$130,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
Schedule
Full-time positions and part-time positions are offered.
