About the role

The Associate Communications Specialist will drive digital communication for diverse audiences, focusing on promoting the WellMed Charitable Foundation and reinforcing the WellMed brand in the community. This hands-on role involves collaborating with corporate departments and teams to execute internal and external brand awareness, marketing campaigns, and corporate communications. While reporting to the Vice President of Social Responsibility, you’ll work closely with colleagues and team leaders to ensure messaging is consistent, clear, and impactful.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify target audiences and tailor content to maximize engagement and reach.
  • Create, curate, and manage high-quality content (text, image, video) across platforms while maintaining a consistent brand voice and visual identity.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop campaigns and follow through to increase potential revenue generation.
  • Monitor, respond to, and engage with followers in a timely and authentic manner to foster online communities and manage reputation.
  • Track performance metrics, generate regular reports to assess effectiveness, and use insights to optimize content and strategy.
  • Stay up-to-date with platform updates, trends, and emerging technologies, experimenting with new formats to keep content fresh and relevant.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, or a related field or 4+ years of comparable work experience with a High School Diploma/GED or associate’s degree in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1+ years of experience with written communication, advertising, and marketing coordination activities.
  • Previous or current work experience as a contractor placed at UGH, one of its subsidiaries, or affiliates.
  • Ability to develop and deliver creative solutions that strengthen brand distinction.
  • Teambuilding abilities, leadership, coaching skills, keen judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full-time availability, Monday–Friday, with flexibility to work any shift during normal business hours (8:00 AM–5:00 PM). Occasional overtime may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with social media principles and trends.
  • Marketing and/or communications experience within a healthcare environment.

Telecommuting Requirements

  • Must reside in Texas.
  • Ability to keep all company-sensitive documents secure (if applicable).
  • Dedicated work area established, separated from other living areas, ensuring information privacy.
  • Must have access to a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed service.

Pay

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $24 to $43 per hour based on full-time employment, determined by factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday.
