About the role

The Associate Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is a physician leader responsible for medical informatics and serves as a regional voice for the provider community. They are tasked with guiding the strategic direction and user experience of technology solutions, ensuring alignment with Jefferson Health's strategic goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership in the design, implementation, adoption, and meaningful use of Jefferson Health’s advanced health information technology platform.
  • Engage care providers in the development, integration, and use of the organization’s systems.
  • Partner with the informatics team to drive organizational change and influence others to translate vision into action.
  • Make decisions that produce high-quality results by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams (clinicians, IT, operations) to support the adoption, development, integration, and use of the organization’s systems.
  • Work closely with analysts and clinical IS&T staff to provide valuable insights on data collected from customers.
  • Manage strategic partnerships with key institutions and build relationships with potential customers to gain support of IT initiatives.
  • Drive Jefferson Health to increase value by improving the health of populations, enhancing the patient experience, and reducing healthcare costs.
  • Promote the use of Jefferson Health’s IS&T systems to improve the work life of clinicians and staff.
  • Represent the needs and requirements of the regional physician community and serve as an advocate for management in promoting the use of information technology in the clinical setting.

Requirements

  • Medical Degree
  • 5 years practice in a clinical area as a clinician providing direct patient care as a physician
  • 3 years knowledge and experience in EHR management and informatics
  • Deep understanding of clinical workflows across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care
  • Knowledge of clinical decision support systems and EHR
  • Adept at using data-driven performance improvement
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and care delivery models
  • Strong customer service skills and change management capabilities
  • Awareness of legal, ethical, and governance issues in health IT
  • Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams (clinicians, IT, operations), especially in a change environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years practice as a physician
  • Knowledge of Telehealth and remote monitoring and digital therapeutics and patient engagement tools
  • Ability to effectively lead change through change management frameworks and stakeholder engagement
  • Consultative and strong ability to partner across clinical care teams and nursing
