Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; frequent evenings, weekends, and holidays based on competition and training schedule. Travel required.

About the Role

The Associate Athletic Trainer, Women’s Rowing, under the medical-legal supervision of the Head Team Physician and the Head Athletic Trainer/Athletics Health Care Administrator (AHCA), is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injury and illness within the University’s comprehensive athletic medicine program. This role has primary responsibility for Women’s Rowing and potential secondary coverage of an additional Olympic sport as assigned. The athletic trainer holds unchallengeable authority to determine management and return-to-play decisions for ill or injured student-athletes, as well as the authority to cancel or modify workouts for health and safety reasons.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary medical care provider for the Women’s Rowing program and possible secondary Olympic sport coverage
  • Emergency medicine preparedness, including developing and implementing comprehensive emergency action plans
  • Coordinate the medical preparation of the Rowing program and ensure supply and equipment readiness
  • Prevent, recognize, diagnose, refer, treat, and rehabilitate injuries
  • Establish criteria for safe return to practice and play and implement the return-to-play process
  • Operate treatment facilities for practice and game situations following national and local standards
  • Determine venue and activity settings requiring on-site presence of the athletic trainer and team physician
  • Maintain accurate medical records for athletes
  • Supervise, educate, and recruit undergraduate student aides
  • Oversee and supervise Certified Athletic Trainer(s) assigned to the sport
  • Collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer, physicians, and allied health care professionals to deliver quality healthcare
  • Perform duties related to injury prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation
  • Document athlete medical records and handle administrative tasks with medical staff, coaches, and compliance
  • Attend organized practices, strength & conditioning sessions, and all home and away competitions

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • 3 years of related experience (5 years preferred)
  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) and/or Licensed Physical Therapist
  • Licensed per the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision
  • Current CPR/AED certification
