About the role

The Application Support Development Associate is a senior technology professional who operates at the intersection of Finance, Technology, AI, and Transformation. The role partners closely with Finance, business, engineering, and technology teams to understand complex business challenges, evaluate solutions, and drive the delivery and ongoing enhancement of critical Finance applications and platforms.

The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of Finance applications and processes with sufficient technical depth to effectively engage engineering teams on application architecture, data flows, system integrations, incidents, and technology solutions. This position does not require hands-on software development but demands technical fluency and comfort working closely with development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Finance, Technology, and other stakeholders to understand business challenges, define requirements, and develop practical technology solutions.
  • Apply strong knowledge of Finance applications, financial data, and processes, ideally including General Ledger (GL), Regulatory Reporting, Financial Reporting, and related Finance systems.
  • Serve as a bridge between business and engineering teams, translating business requirements and Finance concepts into clear technology requirements and solution designs.
  • Analyze complex applications, data, and process issues; identify root causes; evaluate potential solutions; and coordinate with appropriate teams through resolution.
  • Work closely with software development and engineering teams to evaluate system architecture, application integrations, interfaces, data flows, and technology dependencies.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, enhancement, and support of critical Finance applications and technology solutions.
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed application and technology changes and help ensure solutions meet business, functional, technical, and control requirements.
  • Support application incidents and production issues by coordinating across Finance, engineering, infrastructure, data, and other technology teams.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI-enabled development, automation, and analytical tools to accelerate development, analysis, problem-solving, and technology delivery.
  • Contribute to broader Finance and Technology transformation initiatives, including process simplification, application modernization, automation, and improvements to financial data and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Finance application environment, including upstream and downstream systems and data dependencies.
  • Effectively manage multiple initiatives and changing priorities while maintaining ownership of deliverables and driving activities forward with limited supervision.
  • Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams and communicate complex business and technology topics clearly across different functions, locations, and levels of technical expertise.
  • Use Microsoft Excel extensively as a core analytical and problem-solving tool, including the analysis and reconciliation of large and complex financial datasets, investigation of data issues, validation of system outputs, and preparation of management and stakeholder analysis.
  • Drive and support the implementation of solutions developed or accelerated through AI-enabled tools, working closely with engineering and business teams to evaluate, validate, integrate, and operationalize AI-generated solutions within the Finance technology environment, while ensuring they meet business, technical, security, control, and production-readiness requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education (Required).
  • Master's Degree in a related field or equivalent (Preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience with Java, JavaScript, API and Vendor APIs, Jira, VMware Virtualization, and Scrum Methodology (Required).
  • 5+ years of knowledge of Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (Required).
  • Consulting, technology consulting, application management, or similar advisory experience, with demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of Finance applications and processes, preferably including General Ledger (GL), Regulatory Reporting, Financial Reporting, financial data, and related systems.
  • Technical experience and a strong understanding of software development, system architecture, application integrations, data flows, and technology delivery. Hands-on software development experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience partnering with software engineers, developers, architects, business analysts, Finance professionals, and other technology stakeholders.
  • Interest or experience in AI-enabled development and transformation, including using AI tools to accelerate development, analysis, automation, documentation, or delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down ambiguous or complex problems and develop actionable solutions.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ownership, including the ability to identify opportunities, recommend solutions, and drive activities through completion.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements, priorities, and business needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey clear messages across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed and remote teams.
  • Strong initiative and ownership, with the ability to identify opportunities, propose solutions, and drive activities forward with limited supervision.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a continuous-learning mindset, with an eagerness to learn new technologies, Finance processes, and approaches to solving problems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience working with complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis and reconciliation, and large datasets (strongly preferred).
