Associate 2, Court Runner
About the role
As a Court Specialist/Runner at Accurate Background, you’ll contact courts and other data sources (in person, by phone, or online) to conduct criminal/civil and other record checks for employment background screening reports. Your work ensures complete, accurate, and up-to-date information is obtained and reported within prescribed guidelines and deadlines. You’ll work independently to complete assigned duties and must live within a 20-mile radius of the Oakland County District Court - 4280 Telegraph Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302.
Responsibilities
- Contact courts to request information beyond what is available on public index
- Coordinate the pulling and review of physical court files
- Conduct data processing, skip tracing, file retrieval, result analysis, and other investigative tasks
- Update internal platforms with the information gathered from the courts and other data sources
- Liaison with Records and other departments, as needed, to complete assignments or obtain clarification
- Maintain data security and confidentiality requirements at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1-2 years’ work experience (in an office environment), preferred
- Previous experience as a paralegal, law firm assistant, or court records researcher, preferred
- Familiarity with FCRA a plus
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate personal initiative, and exercise sound judgment
- Strong analytical abilities, detail-oriented, and highly organized
- Ability to meet established deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel) and Internet research
- Type 45 WPM or greater
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
- Reliable transportation/access to designated court locations
- Live within a 20-mile radius of designated courts
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to and access public courthouse buildings and related government facilities as part of regular job duties
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, including while waiting in lines or during on-site interactions
- Ability to walk variable and, at times, extended distances between parking areas, public transit stops, and courthouse buildings
- Ability to navigate public spaces, including stairs, elevators, security checkpoints, and crowded areas
- Ability to carry or transport work materials (e.g., documents, files, or a laptop) as needed
- Ability to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Pay
The base pay for this position ranges from $18 to $22 an hour. Pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education and training. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, commission, or other variable pay plan.
