Assistive Technology Intern, Spring 2027

About the Role

This position provides technical support for the implementation and sustainment of Disney-developed Assistive Technology services for Guests with Disabilities at the Walt Disney World Resort. The Assistive Technology services include Assistive Listening, Handheld Captioning, Video Captioning, and Audio Description. This internship is a full-time, 6-month commitment in the Orlando, FL area from January 2027 through June 2027.

Responsibilities

• Partner and interact with various departments to provide an exceptional experience for Guests with disabilities using the Assistive Technology services.
• Learn the technical theory of operation of the Assistive Technology services offered at the Walt Disney World Resort.
• Support a fleet of PDA-style handheld devices that provide Assistive Technology services.
• Investigate and troubleshoot in-park infrastructure.
• Work with Design and Engineering and Engineering Services to assist with new installations and repairs.
• Audit Assistive Technology Services for content accuracy.
• Maintain accurate guest and cast information materials.
• Assist with special projects including audits, photo documentation, and the creation of maintenance materials.
• Support in-park tours and demonstrations.

Qualifications

Required:

• Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at time of application.
  • Currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Preferred:

• Backstage experience, especially throughout attractions, at the Walt Disney World Resort.
• Experience working in theater, dance, music, or show production environments.
• AV technical services experience.
• Previous experience supporting services or technology for people with disabilities.
• Experience with CAD software, Issue Tracker, Wikis, XML, and Python.
• Junior or Senior year preferred.
• Major or previous coursework in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related major.

Schedule

• Full-time, 6-month commitment from January 2027 through June 2027.
• Fully available Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week.
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Orlando, FL area.
• Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work with a personal vehicle, including travel to various locations across the Walt Disney World property throughout the day.
• Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines.

Pay

The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL is $31.00 per hour.
