Assistant Vice President, Primary Casualty Broker

Aon’s National Casualty Practice is a premier team of casualty brokerage professionals with extensive experience representing buyers of primary and umbrella/excess liability. This role is based in our Dallas and/or Houston office and follows a hybrid schedule with three days a week in the office.

About the role

As a trusted casualty broker, you will help clients navigate complex liability risks through data-driven analysis, strategic insurance solutions, and strong carrier relationships.

  • Provide counsel to clients on Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, and General Liability programs, delivering strategic recommendations aligned to their risk and business objectives.
  • Analyze exposures, loss experience, benchmarking data, market conditions, and total cost of risk to develop coverage placement and risk management strategies.
  • Lead the placement process from submission development through marketing, carrier consultations, program design, proposal preparation, and binding of coverage.
  • Deliver clear client presentations, reports, and coverage comparisons that communicate program alternatives, pricing, terms, conditions, and business impact.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, underwriters, and internal partners while identifying opportunities to expand client solutions and enhance service delivery.
  • Coordinate multiple renewals and placement projects simultaneously, mentor junior brokers, and contribute to operational improvements that strengthen brokerage effectiveness and client outcomes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience supporting casualty insurance placements and advising clients on complex liability exposures in a brokerage, carrier, or related risk management environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, General Liability, and Umbrella/Excess Liability coverages, including program structure and placement strategy.
  • Strong ability to analyze risk, claims, exposure, financial, and market data to develop actionable recommendations and support client decision-making.
  • Proven relationship management skills with clients, carriers, underwriters, and cross-functional collaborators.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines while delivering high-quality client service and brokerage results.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and CoPilot.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience at a similar level.
  • Property and Casualty Brokers License is required (can be attained on the job).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $104,700 to $151,800 annually. The actual salary will vary based on education, experience, skills, abilities, internal equity, and geographic location. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus under one of Aon’s incentive plans.
