Qualifications
Completed courses in the organization and administration of athletic programs.
Five years of successful coaching experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games (facility preparation, timers, spectators, greet game officials and complete vouchers for payment, greet visiting teams' and attend to their needs)
- Supervise inventory: the issuing, return, storage, and care of all athletic equipment
- Aid in the communication and supervision of athlete's physical examination requirements and paperwork - will work closely with the District's Athletic Department's Administrative Assistant and school nurse
- Help disseminate appropriate information to coaching staff, faculty, participants, and parents
- Understand proper administrative chain of command and ensure all requests and grievances go through proper channels
- Keep District's Athletic Administrator informed regarding all issues that affect student athletes, game contests, and/or athletic programs
- Attends to minor student athlete disciplinary issues which do not warrant Athletic Administrator's or Building Principal or Assistant Principal's involvement - report out to AD/Principal
- Aid in the establishment of academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport and verify each athlete's eligibility
- Check field conditions during inclement weather and informs District's Athletic Administrator
- Organize, supervise, and attend all Sports Awards' Nights
- Organize indoor practice schedule (fall/spring) for when weather/field conditions cancel outside practices
- Aid in the budget process - prioritize needs for uniforms and equipment
- Aid in the development and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of student athletes and athletic activities
- Create a culture in which each person is treated with respect and the opportunity to improve skill development
- Models professionalism, good sportsmanship, and serves as a positive role model for students
- Assist with supervision & evaluation of middle school coaching staff
Requirements
- Must hold valid CHRC Certification from the ME Dept. of Education
