Philosophy

Nashville Christian School, founded by members of the Churches of Christ and in partnership with students, parents, and staff, strives to give honor and glory to God through Jesus Christ in all aspects of its day-to-day programs. We, Nashville Christian School, seek to provide a Christ-centered and nurturing environment in order to develop our students into committed and productive Christian servants in all areas of this life and in preparation for eternity. We, as the community of Nashville Christian School, believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, that Jesus Christ is God’s son, and that the Holy Spirit dwells in each believer. We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and that God seeks to reconcile His creation to Himself. We believe that Christianity promotes high ideals, develops strong character, and holds the only promise for eternal life with God. In light of each student’s individuality, we seek to promote the development of his/her mind and character. Nashville Christian School centers its entire program, whether in or out of the classroom, on Christian principles.

Description

Our Mission is to be a Christian, authentic, dynamic school equipping students to be global leaders. The Nashville Christian School Teacher is a Christian professional demonstrating Christ’s love while helping students realize and pursue their full potential – spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially.

Objectives

• Has a relationship with the Lord that includes an active membership in a local church
• Morally upright in public and personal life
• Supports and teaches the core beliefs held by the school
• Leads in dress, conduct, attitude, and intellectual pursuit
• Maintains a classroom environment that models Christ-like interaction and positively promotes student development while inspiring a love of learning
• Uses innovative teaching methods, implementing critical thinking strategies
• Uses hands-on, interactive activities incorporating technology using both iPads, laptops, and the Promethean Board
• Instruction and assessment are differentiated to challenge each student appropriately
• Provides accommodations to students with identified learning challenges in consultation with the school’s learning specialist
• Finds ways to educate all children and participates in professional development activities that foster this responsibility
• Uses differentiated instruction, data-driven instruction, and identifies areas of weakness in students
• Consistently communicates expectations and progress to students and parents
• Incorporates a variety of methods to communicate, including conferences, phone calls, and email
• Proficiently uses Renweb as a tool to track attendance, document behavior, and post lesson plans and grades
• Participates and initiates collaborative efforts between teachers of all departments
• Supports and participates in school-wide activities, particularly those pertaining to their students’ involvement

This is an exempt salaried position. NCS offers a competitive rate and comprehensive benefits based on experience and qualifications.
