About the Role
The Department of Mathematics at Rowan University invites applications for one or more Full-Time Temporary Assistant Teaching Professor positions in mathematics, statistics, data science, or closely related fields. The department seeks candidates deeply committed to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses across mathematics, statistics, and data science, as appropriate to the candidate's expertise. In addition to teaching, candidates are expected to make meaningful and substantive service contributions to the department and its undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching Professors are also expected to engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in their disciplinary expertise and in evidence-based instructional practices.
About the Department
The Department of Mathematics is one of six departments in the College of Science & Mathematics, which also includes the School of Earth & Environment. The department is a dynamic and growing unit offering B.A., B.S., and M.A. degrees in Mathematics, as well as B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Data Science (the latter jointly with the Department of Computer Science). The department contributes to numerous degree programs across the university and serves approximately 6,000 students annually. Faculty maintain active, externally funded research programs, cultivate strong industry partnerships, and collaborate across disciplines. The department is committed to sustaining a vibrant academic culture while delivering transformative educational experiences for students.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related discipline by the start date of the appointment.
Responsibilities
- Teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with the option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation.
- Contribute to service within the department and its undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain disciplinary expertise and evidence-based instructional practices.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is for Assistant Teaching Professor: Ranges 21, 24, with placement within the range determined by the candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors. For details, visit CNJSCL Salary Charts.
Schedule
- 10-month appointment, renewable for 2 years.
- Anticipated start date: September 1, 2026.
