About the role
The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (CBE) at Rutgers University-New Brunswick invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching faculty position in the areas of biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical engineering. This is a long-term, career-oriented position with the possibility of reappointment and promotion through the university’s teaching faculty track. This position aligns with the School of Engineering’s (SOE) strategic priority areas in Healthcare Technology and Experiential Learning and Professional Education. We seek a dynamic educator with experience in the biomanufacturing or pharmaceutical industry who is passionate about preparing students for impactful careers and advancing workforce development in these fields.
Responsibilities
- Teaching graduate and undergraduate chemical engineering courses
- Developing new courses in biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical engineering
- Contributing to the growth of the CBE experiential education program by expanding co-op and internship opportunities, coordinating industry-linked projects, and supporting students’ professional preparation
- Using evidence-based, student-centered teaching practices and incorporating industry-relevant content to help students build the knowledge and skills needed for professional success
- Depending on interests, expertise, and departmental priorities, the role may also involve developing industry-sponsored capstone projects, mentoring students, collaborating on educational grants, and participating in service, recruitment, and outreach activities
Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field, with experience in the biomanufacturing or pharmaceutical industry. They should demonstrate a commitment to teaching and a passion for preparing students for impactful careers in these fields. Experience in industry and/or teaching at the university level is preferred.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical engineering, as well as experience in industry. They should be able to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses and have a proven record of effective teaching and student engagement. Additionally, they should be able to develop new courses and contribute to the growth of the CBE experiential education program.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate should be able to work effectively with students, colleagues, and industry partners. They should also be able to design and implement innovative teaching methods that enhance student learning and engagement.

The estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $78,976 to $57,545, depending on the rank.
