About the role

Northwestern State University's College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an applicant for a 9-month full-time faculty position for the Associate/Bachelor of Science degree programs in Nursing available in Shreveport beginning January 5, 2026. Academic rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. Position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

  • Support program expansion efforts in Shreveport and surrounding areas.
  • Teach assigned courses in a manner that promotes academic excellence and student engagement.
  • Evaluate student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback.
  • Serve as a professional role model to students and peers.
  • Represent the university in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain regular office hours and demonstrate reliable attendance.
  • Engage in activities that promote the College of Nursing, which may occur during evenings, weekends, or off-site.
  • Exhibit flexibility, collaboration, and a supportive attitude in all college and university-related activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College and other university departments, as well as local, state, and national agencies and organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with university, state, SACSCOC, ACEN, CCNE, and other regulatory or accreditation bodies.
  • Serve on college, university, or state-level committees or boards as appropriate.
  • Represent the College and University professionally at local, state, and national academic and professional forums.
  • Use a variety of evidence-based and appropriate teaching methods tailored to student needs and learning objectives.
  • Participate in the periodic review, development, and revision of course materials and reports.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing development, including pedagogy, research, grant writing, publications, and presentations.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of and commitment to the mission, goals, and values of the College of Nursing.

Requirements

  • A Master of Science in Nursing degree is required; however, a Doctorate is preferred.
  • Eligible for membership on undergraduate faculty.
  • Unencumbered licensure status as an RN in the state of Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure.
  • At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience; three (3) or more preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a Master of Science in Nursing degree and at least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.

  • Proficiency in using a variety of evidence-based and appropriate teaching methods.
