Job Summary
The Assistant Systems Manager will join the Operations group as a Security Technician responsible for Security initiatives in the Desktop, Server, Applications, and Network areas of the Lehigh County Information Technology Infrastructure. This position should be familiar with the administration and maintenance of an enterprise Server environment, Virtual Server environment, Networking, Firewalls, End user Security Platform, and other Network and Security tools. The Assistant Systems Manager for Security will report to the Security Information Officer.
Responsibilities
- Maintain user access controls, permissions, and authentication systems.
- Support security awareness training initiatives and educate employees on cybersecurity best practices.
- Install, configure, and maintain security software and hardware solutions.
- Document security incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure systems are securely configured and maintained.
- Perform regular backups and verify data recovery processes as needed.
- Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science with Security focused credentials and experience.
- Experience with Computer Forensic Tools and Techniques desirable.
- Considerable knowledge of the design, administration and maintenance of Microsoft Domain environments, including Active Domain Group Policy.
- Considerable knowledge of the administration and maintenance of Microsoft Windows clients.
- Considerable knowledge of backup software.
- Considerable knowledge of server-related concepts such as Virtual Servers, Storage Area Networking, system fault tolerance, disaster recovery and security.
- Considerable knowledge of networking concepts related to Active Directory such as TCP / IP, NetBios, RPC, routing, VLANs, WINS, DNS, DHCP and Ethernet networking.
- Strong technical writing and communications/presentations skills (required).
- Strong organization, planning, and people skills (required).
- The ability to organize and prioritize multiple simultaneous work activities to utilize time efficiently and meet objectives (required).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical ability (required).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of diverse computer and business experience required.
Skills
- Certification in Network Management, Microsoft Exchange Server and VMWare is desirable.
- Experience with Firewalls, SIEM Tools, and Storage Area Networks is a plus.
- Experience with desktop management tools and Endpoint Detection and Response tools is a plus.
