Job Summary
C. Herman Construction seeks an experienced Assistant Superintendent with at least 3 years of ground-up, multi-family construction experience. Reporting to the Lead Project Superintendent, this role involves assisting with overall project management, ensuring safety, overseeing subcontractors, and maintaining schedules.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Communicate and work closely with the superintendent daily
- Aid in managing on-site personnel and creating a safe work environment
- Ensure adherence to safety policies and OSHA requirements
- Organize and attend weekly subcontractor/safety meetings
- Monitor subcontractor, laborer, and partner performance
- Maintain the construction schedule and coordinate activities
- Inform the superintendent of any design or plan changes
- Work with the superintendent to meet or exceed construction milestones
- Review scopes and ensure subcontractors fulfill their contractual obligations
- Complete turn-over sheets and appliance logs as units near completion
- Collect and manage material delivery and rental equipment tickets
- Develop a sequencing and logistics plan for construction activities
- Have a working knowledge of plans and specifications
- Maintain and implement quality control measures
- Secure the project site and contents at the end of each workday
- Document daily progress in a log
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience with ground-up, multi-family projects of 100 units or more, preferably as an Assistant Superintendent
- Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred but not required
- Proficiency in reading, understanding, and interpreting plans, specifications, drawings, contracts, and other documents
- Demonstrated ability to professionally resolve issues with clients, subcontractors, and third parties
- Experience with construction management and office productivity software, including MS Excel, MS Word, or web-based/project management solutions
- Procore Construction Management software proficiency preferred but not required
