Marin Country Club, located in Novato, CA, is seeking a motivated individual to contribute to a positive experience for members and guests while growing their knowledge of golf club operations. As an associate of Troon, you will be part of a global leader in golf and community management.

About Us

Located just 30 minutes north of San Francisco, Marin Country Club offers easy access to the city, California's wine country, and pristine Northern California beaches. The club is currently undergoing a Masterplan to guide construction projects, with a course restoration planned for 2030. Recent upgrades include a state-of-the-art maintenance building, and a new dry storage facility with a wood shop is pending permits. The club is also working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to repair and maintain the Arroyo San Jose, which provides irrigation water and enhances the course's beauty.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Director of Agronomy and Superintendent to create yearly budgets, agronomic calendars, and project schedules.
  • Develops daily and weekly schedules for the maintenance team.
  • Oversees daily maintenance of the property, ensuring tasks are completed safely and to club standards.
  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, and training new team members, including orientation and ongoing training programs.
  • Evaluates team members' performance for annual reviews and provides daily feedback.
  • Addresses team member complaints and problems professionally to promote honesty and teamwork.
  • Works with managers and irrigation technicians to maintain the property's irrigation system.
  • Manages water usage with a deep and infrequent practice to promote playability and turf health.
  • Conducts routine safety training and inspections of equipment and work areas.
  • Reads, understands, and maintains current material safety data sheets (MSDS) and product labels.
  • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Logs chemical applications and files related reports.
  • Oversees and facilitates chemical and fertilizer applications, ensuring proper calibration of equipment.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in all job performance.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and supervise a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in spraying and fertilizing equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with material safety data sheets (MSDS) and product labels.
  • Understanding of governmental regulations for chemical storage and mixing.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and irrigation programming.
  • Certificate, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in horticulture or turf management preferred.
  • Two to three years of golf course maintenance experience required.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
  • Must possess or obtain within 90 days a California Qualified Applicator's License or Certificate.
