About the role

AECOM Hunt has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Superintendent to join our team of professionals in the Hunt Southern Region. Assist the project Superintendent and Project Manager by performing a variety of tasks in support of construction activities. Must hold all applicable licenses and/or certificates as required by governmental, regional, or project contractual requirements. Responsible for and ensures project safety compliance. Knowledgeable of applicable safety riders for area of responsibility. Activities may include inspection of engineering installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining project documentation.

Relies on general to moderately complex knowledge of procedures, company policies, and business practices to plan and accomplish goals. Handles a wide range of relatively complex protocols; viewed as fully competent within limits of experience. Works under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support construction activities under the guidance of the project Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Ensure project safety compliance and knowledge of applicable safety regulations.
• Inspect engineering installations for compliance with specifications.
• Maintain project documentation, including daily reports, site logs, inspection records, RFIs, and contract modifications.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Manage site preparation, interiors, and subcontractor coordination.
• Maintain positive relationships and communication with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Oversee punch list and closeouts, including final inspections and client walkthroughs.
• Utilize construction software (e.g., Procore, MS Office Suite, scheduling software).
• Address on-site challenges with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of relevant commercial construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Experience from a large general contractor working on commercial construction projects (preferred).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents.
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, equipment, methods, cost management, and safety regulations.
• OSHA safety certification (OSHA 30 preferred).
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Physical Demands

The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation:

• Physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones.
• Vision requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Capability to use hands to handle tools and materials.
• Perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Work Environment

Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include:

• Proximity to heavy machinery and elevated work areas.
• Exposure to airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks.
• Moderate to high noise levels depending on the phase of construction.
• Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and remain alert to ensure safety.
