Responsibilities
- Own Your Scope: Lead a portion of a large project or take full responsibility for a smaller project, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Benchmark standards.
- Coordinate the Work: Direct and support Benchmark employees and subcontractors, making sure teams have the resources, information, and direction needed to be successful.
- Drive Productivity: Help keep projects on schedule by planning work, monitoring manpower, and maintaining momentum in the field.
- Champion Safety: Lead by example, enforce safety standards, identify hazards, and create an environment where everyone goes home safe.
- Protect Quality: Review work in progress, correct issues early, and ensure projects are completed with minimal punch list items and exceptional craftsmanship.
- Be the Connector: Collaborate closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, field teams, and subcontractors to keep communication clear and projects moving forward.
- Plan Ahead: Assist with look-ahead schedules, shop drawing reviews, material deliveries, and project logistics to keep work flowing efficiently.
- Lead Through Influence: Support employee development, provide performance feedback, and help build a positive, high-performing jobsite culture.
- Own the Details: Keep daily logs, manpower reporting, progress photos, as-built drawings, and project documentation accurate and up to date.
- Learn & Grow: Participate in turnover meetings, project kickoffs, superintendent meetings, and training opportunities that prepare you for the next level of leadership.
- Build Relationships: Be a trusted partner to clients, subcontractors, and team members by communicating professionally and representing Benchmark with integrity.
- Step Up: Be ready to take the lead when needed, contributing solutions, managing challenges, and helping drive successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- Above all, you are hungry, humble, and people-smart.
- Construction Leadership: 5+ years of construction experience through on-the-job training, vocational school, technical college, a formal apprenticeship, or a combination of education and field leadership experience.
- Project Ownership: Experience leading portions of commercial construction projects, coordinating field teams, subcontractors, schedules, and daily jobsite activities.
- Blueprint Proficiency: Ability to confidently read and interpret architectural, structural, and site drawings, while translating plans into successful field execution.
- Leadership Mindset: Proven ability to lead teams, build accountability, provide feedback, and maintain a productive, positive jobsite culture.
- Safety Commitment: OSHA 30-Hour and First Aid/CPR/AED certified, with a strong understanding of jobsite safety and risk management.
- Organization & Planning: Skilled at managing schedules, manpower, logistics, documentation, and competing priorities without losing sight of the details.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using technology in the field, including Microsoft Office, Procore, and other construction management tools.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Able to think critically, resolve issues quickly, and make sound decisions that keep projects moving forward.
- Communication Skills: Clear and professional communicator who can effectively work with clients, subcontractors, field teams, and project leadership.
- Reliable & Ready: Dependable, adaptable, and willing to take ownership of challenges while helping deliver successful project outcomes.
