About the role
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in maintaining daily retail operations to drive sales, profitability, and exceptional customer service through merchandising, expense and inventory management, team development, and policy compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the quality and performance of retail store staff.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Model effective leadership to align the team with store goals and training standards.
- Assist with recruitment, selection, training, and development of store personnel.
- Provide feedback to the Store Manager on annual performance evaluations for all store employees.
- Manage expenses and develop strategies to meet budgetary goals.
- Monitor and address loss prevention and inventory inconsistencies to achieve shrink goals.
- Maintain operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
- Train employees in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
- Uphold company customer service standards to ensure a friendly and outstanding customer experience.
- Complete accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Standard work week not to exceed 40 hours.
- Flexible schedule required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year in retail management.
- Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of the English language for effective communication.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Ability to think strategically, plan, and organize effectively.
- Maintain professionalism in all situations.
- Proficient analytical ability to gather and summarize data, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
- Results-driven with critical and creative thinking skills.
- Strong project management, time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment with compassion and diplomacy.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and set priorities to respond to changing demands from multiple sources.
- Execute directives with precision and consistency.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Willingness to work in multiple stores within the assigned district.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work extended hours during critical project phases.
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Willingness to travel via car, plane, or train.
