Assistant Store Manager

As an Assistant Store Manager (ASM), you support the Paper Source vision by providing customers with a place where they can find their own creativity and shop with us again and again. You enjoy working with people, are energized by your passion for helping customers, and model excellent service every day. As the deputy to the Store Manager (SM), you focus on the look and consistent presentation of our stores, empowered to make decisions to ensure the shopping experience meets customer satisfaction. You communicate consistently with your Store Manager on ideas to enhance this experience and drive it through team development.
In this role, you ensure sales and profit by leveraging resources, resulting in teams that provide best-in-class service. You work collaboratively with the team, inspiring creativity and fostering an environment where team members are happy and engaged. As a leader, you ensure the smooth running of your store through strong leadership and deployment of the store team, demonstrating effective ownership of key responsibilities to supervise and lead store operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure consistent, friendly, and informed service to customers by setting an example and training the store team to deliver best-in-class service.
- Maintain a vibrant store through execution of visual merchandising and replenishment standards, ensuring a neat, tidy, shoppable, and inviting presentation.
- Drive top-line sales by guiding the team to leverage key campaigns and services, such as new item launches and promotions, to actively engage with every customer.
- Provide ongoing feedback on associate achievements and performance concerns, contributing to performance reviews, hiring decisions, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Develop Senior Sales Leads, Sales Leads, and Customer Sales Associates through coaching and performance feedback, assessing strengths and aligning interests with career pathing opportunities.
- Assess the store from the customer’s perspective and use insights to drive improvements.
- Lead during assigned Manager on Duty (MOD) segments, delivering sales and behaviors that meet performance targets and coaching other team leaders.
- Ensure achievement of sales goals and operational excellence to maximize efficiency and minimize loss through timely execution of all processes.
- Maintain compliance with Company standards for safety, customer experience, and store operations, including asset protection (controlling shrink, expense, and payroll).
- Communicate key issues and messages with urgency and respect to create a culture that reflects company values.
- Open and close the building, ensuring the safety of employees and customers.
- Work on the selling floor, which requires physical activity such as prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, and climbing.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a retail environment.
- Experience managing and developing employees at all levels.
- Effective organization, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to delegate and work through others.
- Strong communication skills and comfort in collaborative working relationships.
- Consistently deliver honest and constructive feedback.
- Passion for customer service and knowledge of (or willingness to learn about) our brand/products.
- Solid product knowledge and understanding of current trends.

Pay
An employee in this position can expect an hourly rate starting at $22.50.
