About the Role
Under the leadership of the Store Manager and District Director, the Assistant Store Manager assists with the day-to-day operations and management of the store and donation area. This role ensures efficient and cost-effective operation through world-class customer service, processing donated goods, quality control, and maintaining a productive workforce.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day store operations, including opening/closing and overseeing store employees, with recommendations for employee change-of-status decisions.
- Adhere to a rotating schedule unless otherwise directed or approved by the District Director.
- Maintain open availability to assist with management and leadership needs, including outside the rotating schedule if required.
- Conduct weekly interviews of external candidates to maintain staffing levels aligned with budgets.
- Complete daily management duties as outlined by GWH’s leadership team.
- Participate in and complete all required training and development activities.
- Communicate clear company goals (daily, weekly, and monthly) to the team.
- Accurately complete sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities at POS registers/safe.
- Partner with the Store Manager to create and post team member schedules using the HRM system.
- Execute GWH’s workflow by training, coaching, and documenting team member performance while assessing production progress hourly.
- Provide recommendations for hiring, firing, promotions, or other changes in team member status.
- Prepare and administer personnel and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure timely placement of store supplies and bank orders.
- Supervise and assist with the training and development of team members.
- Oversee the proper handling and processing of incoming donations using GWH policies and procedures.
- Conduct "Coach by Walking Around" (CBWA) for approximately 80% of the time on duty to ensure team members meet minimum expectations.
- Operate store systems accurately and complete financial and statistical counts (e.g., donor counts, production standards).
- Ensure timely rotation of apparel and hard goods according to GWH policies and procedures.
- Maintain punctuality and dependable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Management experience preferred.
- 1-2 years of retail sales experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact well with diverse personality types.
- Flexibility to work holidays, evenings, overnights, and weekends as needed.
- Reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements
- Continuously stand/walk for the duration of a shift.
- Frequently push/pull, occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders, and climb a ladder.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. (e.g., fixture parts, cartons of product).
- Indoor work environment with exposure to outside temperatures.
- Moderate noise level in the normal work environment.
