About the Role

Responsible for assisting the Store Manager in managing and directing the efficient operation of the assigned store to maximize sales and profitability. Perform the duties of the Store Manager in their absence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in recruiting, selecting, and managing a team of sales-oriented clerks who perform at levels consistent with corporate objectives.
  • Serve as a role model and coach for all Store Clerks, emphasizing correct POS procedures, exceptional customer service, and upselling techniques.
  • Support, uphold, and enforce all company policies and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Supervise all employees in the Store Manager’s absence in a fair, consistent, and impartial manner, adhering to EEOC guidelines.
  • Assist in managing labor and scheduling to minimize expenses while ensuring adequate staffing per the Labor Scheduling Program.
  • Help achieve sales goals as outlined in the business plan and maximize store profitability.
  • Identify causes of shrink and implement measures to control losses and increase profits.
  • Prepare and deliver bank deposits according to company policy and submit accounting records in a timely manner.
  • Assist in ordering merchandise and supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels and prevent stockouts.
  • Verify deliveries of all merchandise and ensure all employees do the same.
  • Implement corporate merchandising policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring correct pricing and in-code, saleable merchandise.
  • Maintain high standards of store image, ensuring the store is clean, well-stocked, and ready for business.
  • Increase sales through suggestive selling and consistently improve customer service.
  • Foster an environment of teamwork among Store Clerks, Supervisors, and vendors.
  • Ensure information flows to all Store Clerks and communicate significant store events to management.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience working in a retail setting and/or successful completion of the Store Assistant Manager training program.
  • Ability to travel independently.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift a minimum of 25 lbs (may vary by location).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all Store Clerk duties and ability to manage store activities in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Availability to support a 24/7 operation and ensure proper staffing at all times.
  • Reliable transportation and communication to facilitate 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of retail management experience or 2 years of non-retail management experience.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
  • Stable work history.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Pay

Base salary range for this position is provided in the spirit of pay transparency. Final pay within this range will be based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
