Assistant Store Director

About the role
This role is responsible for providing support to the Store Director while learning and becoming skilled in management of all areas of the store. Under the direction of the Store Director, you will ensure all departments are fully staffed, trained, and operating efficiently; maintain store profitability by monitoring all financial aspects of purchasing, stocking, selling, payroll, and other general expenses and income; maintain the physical location including equipment, sanitization, safety, and general appearance; and communicate and execute corporate plans.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of all areas and provide feedback to department managers.
- Review reports, take action, and communicate information as needed.
- Engage in financial planning including budgeting, staffing/payroll, facility maintenance, and upgrading.
- Communicate and work with SpartanNash personnel.
- Train others to perform all department activities and functions.
- Manage the selection, scheduling, and supervision of others.
- Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, and customer-friendly department.
- Have familiarity with all products carried in the department; know differences in price, taste, preparation, use, etc.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Three years of experience in a retail grocery environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
- One year of experience in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in a retail environment.
- Proficient in computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.).
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
- Accounting/Bookkeeping skills.
- Ability to interpret/analyze financials.
- Experience in developing/managing budgets.
- Ability to delegate, direct, and implement suggestive selling/knowledge of products.
- Detail-oriented.

Pay
Salary range $50,000 - $65,000 depending on experience. Annual bonuses (depending on organization performance).
