Position Summary
The Assistant Site Superintendent supports the Site Superintendent in managing daily field operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, and promoting a safe, productive jobsite. This role serves as a key link between the office, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and ownership while developing the skills necessary to become a future Superintendent.
Responsibilities
- Aid the Site Superintendent with daily management of field operations.
- Coordinate subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
- Aid in planning and sequencing construction activities to maximize productivity.
- Monitor daily production goals and project milestones.
- Perform daily jobsite walks to verify quality, workmanship, and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Verify that all installations meet manufacturer requirements, building codes, and project specifications.
- Identify construction deficiencies and coordinate corrective action.
- Coordinate material deliveries and ensure materials are available when needed.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, field documentation, photographs, and progress updates.
- Assist with inspections, deficiency lists, punch lists, and project closeout activities.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Promote a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, Site Superintendent, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owners.
- Support the training and development of field personnel while fostering a positive team environment.
Qualifications
- 3–10 years of construction field experience.
- Experience in multifamily, commercial, or large residential construction preferred.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple trades is an asset.
- Knowledge of exterior cladding, roofing, weather barriers, windows, and building envelope systems is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Comfortable using construction management software, Microsoft Office, tablets, and mobile technology.
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walk active construction sites daily.
