About the role

At Arc Experience, we bring learning to life through before and after-school programs that serve youth across Southern California, including Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Imperial Valley. The Assistant Site Coordinator has a unique dual role: you work directly with students and also handle leadership and administrative responsibilities, including working with school staff, developing lesson plans, tracking attendance, and ensuring grant compliance. This is a great position if you want to grow your leadership skills and advance within our company.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Coordinator by acting as the second point of contact for parents and administrators.
  • Oversee the safety and well-being of students during after-school activities.
  • Establish and enforce rules and expectations to promote positive behavior.
  • Coordinate, manage, and participate in indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.
  • Attend trainings or staff meetings to stay updated on best practices in childcare, safety, and program management.
  • Address challenging behavior constructively, involving supervisors or parents if necessary.
  • Facilitate sign-up procedures to ensure accurate attendance tracking.
  • Create unique clubs for students (e.g., career readiness, cooking, anime, dance).
  • Organize and lead a variety of activities, including homework help, recreational games, arts and crafts, and educational projects.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working in after-school programs or youth recreation, especially in ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
  • Strong communication skills to interact comfortably with both kids and parents.
  • 48+ college credit units completed (verified by college transcripts) OR passing an academic proficiency exam.
  • Negative TB test (proof required) and passing a Live Scan background check.
  • Ability to reliably commute before starting work (required).

Bilingual English-Spanish speakers are highly encouraged to apply. If the school requires Covid-19 vaccination, documentation of full vaccination is mandatory.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • Morning Shift (Optional): 6am–8am
  • Afternoon Shift: 2pm–6pm (one day per week is a minimum day, approximately 12pm–6pm, depending on the school)
