Assistant Shelter Manager - Boston Adoption Center

About the role

Join our Boston Adoption Center team as a Full-Time Assistant Manager (40 hours/week, weekends required). Relocation assistance available for out of state applicants. Salary: $55,000–$70,000, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support an incredible team of staff and volunteers
• Ensure top-quality daily care for animals in our center
• Create positive, respectful experiences for adopters, surrenderers, and visitors
• Aid in training, scheduling, performance development, and team culture
• Provide euthanasia counseling while upholding the highest standard of respectful, compassionate care
• Model the kindness and professionalism that define the MSPCA

Requirements

• 1 year of management or supervisory experience (non-profit preferred)
• 2 years in animal sheltering, veterinary services, or comparable human-services fields preferred

Qualifications

• A compassionate, people-centered leader who believes deeply in helping animals and their families
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
• A commitment to maintaining the positive, supportive culture we’ve built
• Spanish proficiency is a plus!
