Work closely with the Residential Operations Manager, Dispatcher, Service Technicians, and HVAC Installers-Residential to assist with daily operations, administration, technical questions, and training programming. Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential HVAC systems while providing technical support to team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Residential Operations Manager with daily operations and administration tasks.
- Collaborate with the Residential Operations Manager to build and implement efficient training programs for Service Technicians and HVAC Installers-Residential.
- Coach and train team members on technical questions, basic HVAC walkthrough procedures, and common field challenges.
- Diagnose and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including electrical, refrigerant, combustion, and airflow issues, following manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance (cleanings, inspections, filter changes, tune-ups) to improve system reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Use testing equipment (manifolds, combustion analyzers, multimeters, leak detectors, airflow measurement tools) to perform acceptance tests and verify proper system operation.
- Accurately document service findings, work performed, parts used, and recommendations in the company’s service software.
- Communicate clearly with customers to explain issues, present repair and replacement options, and answer questions professionally.
- Educate customers on proper system operation, basic maintenance, and potential improvements (e.g., higher efficiency equipment, indoor air quality products, smart thermostats).
- Maintain a clean, organized job site and keep service vehicles properly stocked, inventoried, and presentable.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to after-hours emergency service requests.
- Follow company safety procedures and all applicable codes and standards; comply with OSHA and other safety requirements while working in homes, on ladders, roofs, and in confined spaces.
- Engage in ongoing training and continuing education to stay current with technology, codes, and company processes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; technical school training in HVAC preferred; college degree a plus.
- EPA 608 (Type II) certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in residential HVAC repair and installation.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record; ability to meet driving requirements for company vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical Demands
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ pounds, standing, and bending.
- Physically capable of working on 30-foot ladders.
