Key Responsibilities
- Support the Resident Engineer (RE) and Construction Manager (CM) in the day-to-day oversight of construction activities on a major NYCDEP project.
- Assist in managing inspection staff and ensuring timely and accurate daily reporting in accordance with client requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between contractors, design teams, and client stakeholders.
- Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Maintain project documentation including correspondence, reports, and contract records.
- Affiliate in reviewing construction plans, specifications, and change orders for constructability and compliance.
- Support the preparation and facilitation of project meetings including progress, safety, and coordination meetings.
- Monitor contractor performance related to safety, schedule, quality, and overall responsiveness.
- Affiliate in reviewing and processing contractor payment applications in coordination with project controls.
- Assist in project closeout activities and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in construction management, with prior experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer or Senior Inspector on municipal infrastructure projects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
- Experience with NYCDEP, NYCDDC, or similar agencies strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, contract administration, and field coordination.
- Strong geotechnical background and experience.
- Strong concrete placement background and experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York.
- Experience supporting NYCDEP and/or NYCDDC construction projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with clients, contractors, and other team members.
- Interest in supporting business development and proposal efforts.
