Assistant Reading Lab Coordinator
Part-time, non-exempt position.
About the Role
The Assistant Reading Lab Coordinator supports the Reading Lab Coordinator in serving Reading/INRW/ESOL courses, part-time staff, and materials including the computer lab. All Reading and ESOL courses have a lab requirement as part of the curriculum. The Assistant Lab Coordinator helps students meet these requirements, manages access to lab materials (print and digital), provides one-on-one and small-group tutoring, and creates/delivers workshops on various topics throughout the semester.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Reading Lab Coordinator with lab management.
- Train Reading Lab staff.
- Assist with purchasing supplies, instructional materials, software, and equipment.
- Maintain the Reading web page.
- Keep records of lab attendance and ensure staff enter time accurately.
- Manage paper timesheets for the Lab Coordinator’s review.
- Maintain records of equipment and instructional material usage.
- Collaborate with Reading/INRW/ESOL faculty to create and order instructional materials.
- Work with students of diverse backgrounds.
- Develop and conduct workshops for Developmental Education and ESOL students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 60 college credit hours.
- One year of experience working in higher education.
- Knowledge of computer software and technology.
- Proficiency in general office skills (e.g., answering phones, customer relations, typing).
- Ability to collaborate with the Lab Coordinator to manage lab requirements.
- Ability to work with diverse students, staff, and faculty.
- Strong teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience delivering workshops for Reading or ESOL.
- Experience working with students from various backgrounds.
- Teaching or tutoring experience in Reading or ESOL at the secondary or higher education level.
Pay
$17.00 per hour.
