Assistant Quantity Surveyor OR Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will provide commercial assistance to the project teams. You will have 2 - 4 years' post graduate experience in Quantity Surveying. The role will be based in Aldermaston, Reading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend site regularly to provide commercial support.
  • Attend site visits and meetings when required.
  • Contribute towards effective interaction between the commercial team and the site teams.
  • Build and maintain good client relationships.
  • Identify any changes to the original scope of works in order to ensure variations are captured and accordingly claimed for.
  • Value completed work and submit interim Applications for Payment to the client that accurately reflect this, adhering to timescales specified in the contract.
  • Place subcontract orders, along with valuing subcontractor applications and payments.
  • Prepare and analyse project costs and recalculate these during a project if the scope changes.
  • Avoid any supply chains or subcontractors used are engaged appropriately within the business and signed off by Procurement / Compliance.
  • Support the monthly WIP process and other reports, including debt.
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts that are in use.

About You

  • You must hold a full driving licence.
  • You must have 2-4 years' post graduate experience in an Assistant QS role or QS role.
  • You must have a Degree in Quantity Surveying from a RICS accredited provider.
  • You must understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
  • You must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Project and Outlook.
  • You must have the ability to manage your own workload and coordinate with others to ensure strict deadlines are met.
  • You must have the willingness to undertake additional training to grow within the role.
  • You must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • You must have good organisational skills in being able to multi-task and re-prioritize at frequent intervals.
  • You must have attention to detail.
  • You must have a friendly and professional manner.
  • You must have the ability to be flexible and adapt to change and work effectively as part of a team.
  • You must have knowledge of CEMAR is desirable but not critical.
