About the role
As an Assistant Construction Estimator with Archstone Builders, you will help develop and manage construction bids and budget for a wide range of project types and sizes. This role assists with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Preconstruction and Construction Teams in estimating functions throughout preconstruction and construction phases.
- Assist in preparing conceptual, schematic, and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimates.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and analysis from design documents under supervision.
- Review design documents for completion; assemble comments and requests for additional information needed to provide complete estimates.
- Support value engineering and cost-saving alternatives during preconstruction.
- Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates and develop clear and concise messages to explain variances for each project stakeholder.
- Coordinate with senior estimators during estimate reviews and updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0–2 years of construction experience in commercial, residential, or mixed-use construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in construction math and quantity measurement.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Clear communication and leadership abilities in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating NYC construction projects.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Timberline, or similar construction cost management tools.
Work Environment
- Office-based role with occasional jobsite visits.
- Extended hours may be required depending on project schedules.
