About the role

The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in Managerial Accounting or Taxation to begin August 18, 2027. Candidates must demonstrate experience in and/or commitment to teaching. Applicants should possess a strong research interest and capability, evidenced by a history of or potential for professional growth. This includes regular publication in quality, refereed journals, participation in professional conferences, and an active, innovative research agenda. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with the business community. The candidate will be expected to teach in the areas of Managerial Accounting or Taxation.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in the areas of Managerial Accounting or Taxation
  • Develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity
  • Engage in both campus and professional service activities
  • Interact effectively with the business community

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, with all degree requirements met before the first day of the Fall 2027 semester, August 18, 2027
  • Demonstrate past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two (2) or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria

Qualifications

  • A record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments
  • Demonstrated capacity to teach graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Engage in both campus and professional service activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies
  • Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research/ scholarship/ teaching
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU
  • Engaged in service or research with different populations in higher education

Benefits

Support for research includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and items/data supporting research.

Pay

The anticipated base salary range is from $140,000 to $155,000.

Schedule

The anticipated start date is August 18, 2027.
