About the role
The School of Business at Eastern Illinois University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2027.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the School’s mission through excellence in teaching, research, and service.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, including financial accounting, accounting information systems, managerial accounting, auditing, and taxation, in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Maintain a sustainable research program that generates scholarly output consistent with the missions of the School of Business and the Accountancy Program.
- Teach and adapt to evolving departmental needs.
- Engage in applied and pedagogical research.
- Service to the School of Business and the University.
Requirements
- Hold a Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited accounting doctoral program with a strong record of research training in accounting.
- An established or emerging record of publication in peer-reviewed journals is required.
- A demonstrated passion for teaching, student mentoring, and overall student career development is highly valued.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or other relevant designations are a plus.
- Experience teaching online is also desirable, particularly when accompanied by a strong grounding in U.S. GAAP, demonstrated fluency with the FASB Accounting Standards Codification, and familiarity with related U.S. regulatory and reporting standards.

- Evidence of strong instructional effectiveness and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
