Assistant Professor of Accounting (Tenure-Track)

About the role

The School of Accountancy in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting, beginning January 2027. We seek candidates who possess a balanced perspective toward high-quality research, effective classroom teaching, and active engagement with the accounting profession.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in accounting, including tax.
• Contribute to the School's research activities.
• Participate in departmental service and college-wide initiatives.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Accounting or related field from an AACSB-accredited institution by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in accounting.
• Record of scholarly activity, including publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
• Relevant professional or industry experience in taxation and/or across multiple areas of accounting.
• Professional certification (i.e., CPA, CMA, etc.).

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Accounting or related field from an AACSB-accredited institution by the time of appointment.
• Eligible to meet ODU criteria for Scholarly Academic status.
