Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry a share of advising duties and committee assignments.
- Be a visionary and champion of both undergraduate and graduate education in diverse modalities.
- Teach two 3-credit courses or one 3-credit course and one 6-credit studio per semester with a workload distribution: 40% teaching, 40% scholarly activity/research, and 20% service.
- Advance externally funded building science research that integrates with design.
- Build and sustain an active, externally funded research program that expands the frontiers of building science and building physics.
- Connect building performance simulation, sustainable building technologies, indoor environmental quality, materials, and energy systems to architectural design practice and pedagogy, potentially including emerging areas such as AI, digital twins, cyber-physical sensing, or advanced construction methods.
- Collaborate across disciplines to address global challenges.
- Engage in a distinctive pedagogical and research context where the built environment is inseparable from its desert setting.
Requirements
PhD or doctorate in architecture or related discipline, or master’s degree with 5 years of experience in relevant research or industry experience.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated quality University-level teaching experience in in-person or online modalities.
- Demonstrated record of or evidence of potential for acquiring external funding.
- Professional experience or collaborations in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Management (AECOM) industry.
- Awards for teaching or design.
- Experience in curriculum or course development.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience working in building science or related fields.
- Experience in collaborative interdisciplinary practice or teaching and/or ability to bridge across architecture and related fields.
