Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology

About the role

Marymount University seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) to support online graduate and undergraduate coursework in Speech-Language Pathology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in broad pediatric experiences (early childhood through adolescence) and a willingness to teach foundational speech-language pathology undergraduate coursework. Other areas of expertise aligned with the program’s mission and vision are also welcome.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program’s philosophy and objectives.
• Collaborate with faculty to design, implement, teach, evaluate, and revise curriculum.
• Teach online courses as assigned (in-person undergraduate courses are optional).
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate or post-baccalaureate students.
• Assess student learning to support grading, progression, and program-level evaluation.
• Contribute to policies for student admission, progression, retention, and graduation within shared governance processes.
• Provide direct and indirect clinical supervision of SLP students as needed.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and clinical partners.
• Provide service to the department, college, university, and academic/practitioner community.
• Maintain current licensure and certification.
• Conduct scholarship aligned with clinical practice, professional advancement, or innovation in teaching and learning, including dissemination through peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
• Participate in academic mentorship of students in compliance with FERPA requirements.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field (ABD considered with completion expected by start date).
• Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or eligibility for certification.
• Eligibility for licensure in Virginia (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
• Experience teaching in higher education, preferably in SLP programs.
• Commitment to social justice, inclusion, antiracism, decolonization, and anti-ableism in education and clinical practice.

Schedule

9-month contract with in-person and on-campus responsibilities. Summer work options are available.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $71,000 – $76,000, competitive and market-based.
