Assistant Professor - Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

Hunter College’s Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning Spring 2027.

About the Department

The department has 7 full-time academic and clinical faculty along with adjunct faculty who support academic and clinical education. It admits approximately 25 full-time graduate students annually and is housed in the School of the Health Professions, offering a warm collegial environment with extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the School of Education and the School of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in speech-language pathology and audiology.
• Conduct an independent line of research aligned with the candidate’s area of interest.
• Establish and mentor students in research labs.
• Provide input and support for existing research programs and projects.
• Share responsibility for committee and department administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Requirements

• PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related fields. A strong candidate at the final stage of doctoral degree completion (All-But-Dissertation/ABD) may be considered.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in the practice area of Speech-Language Pathology; foreign equivalent documentation may be considered.
• Ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution and department.
• Background in speech/language and hearing sciences with specific interests in speech science, motor speech control, motor speech impairments, and swallowing disorders.

Early career investigators with grant-writing experience as well as mid- and senior researchers are encouraged to apply.

Pay

Salary range: $82,663–$98,995. Expected salary range effective September 1, 2026 (pending implementation of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement): $85,556–$102,460.
