Northwestern University’s Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning September 1, 2027. We welcome applications from scholars working in all substantive areas of sociology.

About the role

Responsibilities include conducting research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising students, and contributing to departmental service.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Sociology or other appropriate discipline required at the time of appointment

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000 for a nine-month academic appointment. This range does not include summer salary and is subject to negotiation. The final pay offered will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, training, field or discipline, departmental budget, internal comparators, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
