About the role

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychological Science with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a record of impactful research and teaching excellence.
  • Teach courses in their area of specialization and courses that are part of the required core in the psychology major.
  • Teach courses of variable sizes and modalities, including large class sizes.
  • The standard teaching load is 9 credit hours (i.e., 3 courses) per semester, with the load being negotiable depending on research intensity.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate education and mentorship is essential.
  • Service to the Department, College, University, and/or profession is expected.

Required Qualifications

  • A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Psychology or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
  • Evidence of promoting student success.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the university level.
  • Demonstrated record of research and scholarship within the discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialization in the biological basis of psychology.
  • High priority will be given to those who can teach courses related to their specialization (e.g., Physiological Psychology, Psychopharmacology), in addition to research methods and statistics.
  • Effectiveness in teaching in different modalities (i.e., face-to-face, online, hybrid).
  • Effectiveness in teaching in different course sizes, including large classes.
  • Effectiveness in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Effectiveness in publishing scholarship in reputable outlets.
  • Experience/potential in securing external funding.
