Assistant Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience

Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, specializing in Applied Psychology, to begin Fall 2027.

About the Role

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Colorado College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in applying psychology beyond academics. Specializations may include health psychology, social work, community psychology, forensic psychology, or other subdisciplines. The successful candidate will teach courses across the psychology curriculum, including Introduction to Psychology, methodology courses, and specialty courses. They will also establish a robust research program that includes undergraduate students as collaborators.

Colorado College is a nationally recognized, residential liberal arts and sciences college enrolling approximately 2,000 students. The College is distinguished by its Block Plan, where professors teach, and students take, one course at a time in three-and-a-half-week blocks. Faculty have a six-block teaching duty in the eight-block year, with one block potentially assigned to supervising senior and independent projects.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses across the psychology curriculum, including Introduction to Psychology, methodology courses, and specialty courses in applied psychology.
• Develop and maintain a robust research program that actively involves undergraduate students as collaborators.
• Mentor students from marginalized and minoritized groups, aligning with the goals of The Strategy for a More Just CC.
• Contribute to the department’s and college’s commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching and research.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Psychology or a related discipline by the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching a diverse community of undergraduate students.
• Experience and success in applying psychological research to non-academic settings.
• Ability to support students in bringing psychological research to real-world contexts.
