Responsibilities
- Teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year (fall and spring semesters).
- Opportunity for summer teaching and additional compensation.
- Primary teaching responsibilities include first year composition, professional writing, and rhetoric.
- Opportunity to teach cultural studies, and humanities.
- Collaborate with other faculty on developing new courses.
- Perform course and program assessments.
- Preference given to applicants with experience in collaborative teaching, writing across the curriculum, and practical teaching students in STEM majors.
- Support the department, college, and campus through service.
Qualifications
- Minimum Ph.D. in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical and Professional Writing, or related field at the time of the appointment.
- PREFERRED:
- Experience in participating in programmatic assessment and curriculum design for first-year writing and humanities courses.
- Experience teaching technical writing and/or business communication courses that provide practical rhetorical knowledge to students in various majors.
- Collaborative teaching, team-teaching, or writing across the curriculum.
- Professional experience writing in the disciplines, e.g., in intelligence-gathering communities, the gaming industry, engineering / simulations industries.
