Assistant Professor of Professional Writing

Responsibilities

• Teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year (fall and spring semesters).
• Opportunity for summer teaching and additional compensation.
• Primary teaching responsibilities include first year composition, professional writing, and rhetoric.
• Opportunity to teach cultural studies, and humanities.
• Collaborate with other faculty on developing new courses.
• Perform course and program assessments.
• Preference given to applicants with experience in collaborative teaching, writing across the curriculum, and practical teaching students in STEM majors.
• Support the department, college, and campus through service.

Qualifications

• Minimum Ph.D. in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical and Professional Writing, or related field at the time of the appointment.
• PREFERRED:
• Experience in participating in programmatic assessment and curriculum design for first-year writing and humanities courses.
• Experience teaching technical writing and/or business communication courses that provide practical rhetorical knowledge to students in various majors.
• Collaborative teaching, team-teaching, or writing across the curriculum.
• Professional experience writing in the disciplines, e.g., in intelligence-gathering communities, the gaming industry, engineering / simulations industries.
