About the role
The University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio) is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice/Instruction for the Writing Program in University College. The Writing Program consists of 30 fixed-term-track faculty members and staff who teach the Communication component of UT San Antonio's Core Curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Teach Freshman Composition I and Freshman Composition II (required Core courses).
- Offer multiple sections of Freshman Composition I and Freshman Composition II.
- Teach a variety of Honors-specific and topic courses.
- Possess a Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, or other related field (for Professor of Practice).
- Possess a Ph.D. degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, or other related field (for Professor of Instruction).
- Have teaching credentials including experience in teaching Freshman Composition.
- Demonstrate the ability to incorporate active or experiential learning or other evidence-based pedagogy.
- Exhibit the ability to integrate technology into instruction, online teaching, or use other emerging technologies.
- Have teaching experience at an institution of higher education and qualifications comparable to those of faculty members in the fixed-term track or tenure track positions.
- Demonstrate service to the field or profession through committee service at a department, college, or university level.
- Maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Benefits
- Up to $45,000 annualized for Professor of Practice.
- Up to $49,300 annualized for Professor of Instruction.
Pay
- Up to $45,000 annualized for Professor of Practice.
