Assistant Professor of Instruction

Open-rank APT faculty position in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. This position may be appointed at the rank of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Instruction, with a 12-credit teaching load per semester.

About the Role

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering invites applications for an open-rank faculty position to teach courses within the undergraduate and graduate Computer Engineering curriculum. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach in one or more of the following areas:

• Electric circuits
• Electronics
• Digital logic design
• Signal processing
• Embedded systems
• Microprocessors
• Systems-on-chip
• Electromechanical systems
• Real-time systems

Academic Professional Track faculty members actively contribute to departmental life through mentoring students, advising senior design projects, and participating in curriculum design and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
• Develop and update course materials
• Mentor and advise students
• Participate in curriculum development and departmental service

Requirements

• For Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Instruction: Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related area (by start date)
• For Lecturer/Senior Lecturer: M.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related area (by start date)
• Applicants with significant industry experience are encouraged to apply

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching and/or training experience
• Industry work experience, particularly when it enhances teaching through real-world applications or project-based learning
• Evidence of creative and effective pedagogy, such as course materials, evaluations, or descriptions of novel teaching approaches
