Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior
San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business (FCB) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior, starting Fall 2027. This position is contingent upon state funding and is part of the California Faculty Association (Unit 3), offering full-time, tenured/tenure-track employment.
About the Role
The Management Department at FCB seeks a candidate who demonstrates excellence in both scholarship and teaching. The successful applicant will:
- Develop and maintain a vigorous, independent research program in Organizational Behavior, resulting in top-tier journal publications and academic thought leadership.
- Teach the undergraduate core course in Organizational Behavior, with potential additional teaching responsibilities in the core MBA Organizational Behavior course.
- Contribute to a diverse student body, including traditional and non-traditional students, which may require some evening teaching.
FCB is among the nation’s oldest and largest AACSB-accredited business schools, jointly offering SDSU’s highly ranked International Business program (17th nationally by U.S. News & World Report in 2024). The Management Department includes 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty and provides research support through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and funding for conference travel and related expenses.

Qualifications
Required by Date of Application:
- A record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments.
- Demonstrated capacity to:
- Develop a vigorous and independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses.
- Engage in campus and professional service activities.
- Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
Required by Date of Hire (August 2027):
- Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior or a closely related field (e.g., industrial-organizational psychology, international business, human resources), with all degree requirements completed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability or potential to publish high-quality organizational behavior research in top-tier journals.
- Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding.
- Evidence of (or potential for) research in areas overlapping with department faculty interests.
- University-level teaching experience.
Pay
The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule, with an anticipated range of $140,000 - $147,000 for the academic year (full-time monthly). Salary placement will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and higher salaries may be offered in limited circumstances.
