Assistant Professor of Organismal Biology & Ecology
Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Organismal Biology & Ecology at Colorado College, beginning Fall 2027.
About the role
The Department of Organismal Biology & Ecology seeks an individual with demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research, including fostering inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive. Colorado College is a nationally recognized, residential liberal arts and sciences college enrolling approximately 2,000 students. The College is distinguished by its immersive Block Plan, where professors teach, and students take, one course at a time in three-and-a-half-week blocks. Faculty teach six blocks annually, with one block typically assigned to supervising senior and independent projects.
Responsibilities
- Teach six courses per year, including:
- Introductory biology of animals
- Ecology
- Upper-level courses utilizing quantitative and/or field research methods
- A non-major course in the candidate’s area of specialty
- A mentored student research course
- Maintain an active research program that includes directing undergraduate student research
- Contribute to service at Colorado College and within the profession
Requirements
- Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology, integrative biology, or a related field, with expertise in animal biology and ecology (completed at time of application)

- Undergraduate teaching experience
- Mentoring undergraduate research experience
